This tells the story of Job, Job has everything, a wonderful flock, a beautiful wife, and a large family. He is a good man and stays away from evil. One day Satan challenges God saying that he will be able to turn Job into an evil man. One day Job receives some letters which informs Job that his flock and all of his children died. Job is angry but he still prayed to god. His three friends Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar come to comfort him. They sit for many days and on the seventh day Job speaks. He starts a conversation in which they all share their feelings on Job's recent afflictions. As they are talking Job's "friends" show there idea that Job may have committed a sin. Bildad says that Job's children must have brought their deaths upon themselves and Zophar implies that for whatever Job has done he deserves a worse punishment. Job acts with animosity towards his old friends and starts to call them names. Job leaves his friends to ponder God. He thinks to himself how judgmental God is, and how God is to harsh to his sons and daughters. His freinds think that he does not show enough fear of god. Job believes that there is a redeamer in heaven who will recognise his innocence in spite of his sins. He grows to be sarcastic, impatient, and scared. Job thinks that God lets the wicked flourish and hurts innocent people such as Job, he wants to confront God but cannot find him. God appears from a whirlwind and asks Job to answer his questions. He asks Job rhetorical questions to show how little Job know about creation and how much power God has. As Job listens to God he learns how much knowledge he does not have and admits this to God. God is pleased and in return grants Job all of the thing he took away (including new children).
The main lesson of this story is to always obey your superior. To lose faith at the worst time is giving up in what you believe. Throughout history people have kept faith in their God and not doubted their religion. In most beliefs God will often test an individual so to know that they have stayed loyal and devoted even through tough times. Job is was an unfortunate soul who was picked for a test. He tried to stay faithful but it wasn't enough. He could not hold on, all the love he had built up towards God came crumbling down when he was not saved. The many tests one is put through in life can be difficult but the message of this story is to always keep faith and loyalty.
